Let’s talk it through
Is buying really better than renting?+

It depends on factors such as the price, rent, down payment and how long you plan to stay. The calculator compares net worth after a hypothetical sale with the savings of a renter who invests the money available to them. Renting may well be the better option in your scenario.

Can I buy with a down payment of less than 20%?+

For an eligible property under $1.5 million, the minimum down payment starts at 5% on the first $500,000 and 10% on the remainder. Mortgage default insurance is generally required below 20%. Credit and lender requirements apply; a mortgage broker can review your situation.

Does the calculator check my credit?+

No. Calculations stay in your browser and no credit check is performed. The Equifax and TransUnion links let you view your file directly with the credit bureaus. Never send your credit report or social insurance number through this form.

What if I cannot buy right away?+

We can plan the next steps: clarify your budget, set a down payment goal, anticipate closing costs and seek advice from a mortgage professional. Choose “Prepare for a future purchase” to request a plan that fits your timeline.

Which areas of the Outaouais do you serve?+

Eric Fortier helps buyers in Gatineau, Hull, Aylmer, Cantley, Val-des-Monts, Buckingham, Chelsea and Masson-Angers. You can select several areas and property types in your inquiry.
